FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How many Colon Hydrotherapy sessions will I need?

The number of colon hydrotherapy sessions needed differs from one individual to the next depending on the persons’ goals and conditions of health. After a full consultation and assessment of the individual’s body demands the number of sessions will be determined. Remember it has taken a lifetime to build up toxic matter in the colon so it’s expected to take a number of sessions to remove it.

Just as some people exercise regularly to tone and tighten their outer body, some people follow an ongoing cleansing and rebalancing of their inner body.

Can anyone do Colon Hydrotherapy treatments?

As long as the individual has no contra-indications, yes absolutely.

Contra-indications include:

  1. Severe cardiac disease
  2. Severe anaemia
  3. GI haemorrhage or Perforation
  4. Severe Haemorrhoids
  5. Cirrhosis

Is Colon hydrotherapy safe?

Yes absolutely, if done by a professionally trained therapist.

Colon hydrotherapy, unlike the use of laxatives is not habit forming.

Colon hydrotherapy exercises the colon muscles to strengthen and create good peristalsis. It cannot make your colon lazy, it is in actual fact exercise for your colon. The contraction and relaxation will help reshape and tone the colon muscles.

Does Colon Hydrotherapy hurt?

No, not at all. Only slight cramps may be experienced.

The initial insert of the speculum may be a bit uncomfortable but soon as we get the therapy going, the feeling passes.

How long is a session?

The duration of one colonic treatment is about 45 minutes. You will be in and out within a hour, including changing into shorts and visiting the toilet after the treatment. Your first visit will be approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes due to a thorough consultation to ensure the client has no contra-indications and that all their questions are answered.

Can I carry on with my daily routine after having a treatment?

You should be able to do anything after a treatment as you would after a bowel movement.

Why do we have to have Colonics if our ancestors coped fine without it?

Due to our modern lifestyle and eating habits our bodily system is under more pressure than ever before. We eat more processed and refined foods, consume more alcohol, rely on medication and drugs for ailments and our jobs are more stressful than ever.

Colon hydrotherapy has been used by the Egyptians since 1500BC and has ever since been a growing therapy.

Will this wash out all my good flora?

Some of the good bacteria do get lost but we remove far more bad bacteria.

The good bacteria will naturally reproduce itself within a few days when the colon has been washed and toxins removed.

It is generally recommended that you take a good pro-biotic daily to aid in gut health regardless of whether or not you are doing Colon Hydrotherapy treatments.

How will I feel after a session?

How you may feel varies enormously from person to person. Some people will have an abundance of energy and others would like to climb in under the duvet.

Can I still come for Colon Hydrotherapy whilst having my menstrual cycle?

Yes absolutely, given that your period pains are not too severe and you feel well enough.

How do you know when your colon is clean?

During colonics the water is sent all the way up the descending colon, through the transverse colon and down the ascending colon to reach the cecum area. If the colon is thoroughly cleansed, it will release a product from the small intestine, called chyme. When the cecum flush exits the waste pipe, we can confidently say that the colon is clean.
